Consulting Process Control Engineers (CPCE) is an organisation established in 1998. CPCE is engaged in engineering services in the specialised field of process instrumentation & control and automation to the chemical and allied process industries.

In addition to a strong relationship with its existing clients, CPCE enjoys a good working relationship with local engineering colleges that have state of the art instrumentation and control laboratories and collaborates with them for conducting training programmes. Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers' local chapter is another associate of CPCE with whom short training courses are being run every year.

Pune is a modern city in the western part of India, close to Mumbai, the commercial capital of the country. Apart from its reputation as an educational and cultural centre, Pune is also known as a knowledge city . There are a number of engineering companies, both suppliers of engineering equipment as well as engg and design centres of many global companies located in Pune. Information Technology companies from all over the world have, over the last couple of decades, identified Pune as an important centre. Needless to mention, Pune is enjoying a rapid growth, also because of its salubrious climate and friendly atmosphere.

CPCE's business mission is to become a specialised services provider for end to end services in its chosen field of process control and automation. Globally, process control remains a specialised engineering discipline within the multidisciplinary domains that encompass process instrumentation, process design, systems engineering and software engineering. The challenge in process control practice has always been to bring together the knowledge and practical insights of these complementary disciplines, in order to solve practical control problems and help manufacturing companies improve their performance. This in itself is a tall order since at one end of the so called control pyramid, one is dealing with the details of plant level instrumentation, while at the other extreme, the challenge is to integrate the plant floor information and management reports with the business systems, especially with the ERP systems.

CPCE is aware of this length and breadth of the technology spectrum and has demonstrated its reach. For example, CPCE has provided detailed engineering services that cover instrumentation, control system selection, and associated detailed engineering. In addition, it has also been involved in preparation of engg documentation for control system application software that closely resembling the software development life cycle (SDLC) approach of the IT services, such as the User or Software Requirement Specification (URS or SRS), Functional Design Specification (FDS) and beyond such as inspection of panels as well as Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT).

It has been engaged in providing training services in basic instrumentation and PLC/DCS based automation engineering to participants with mixed backgrounds, such as electrical, mechanical, chemical, computer and instrumentation engineering. At the other end of the spectrum, it has been involved with deploying and demonstrating Model Predictive Control (MPC) algorithm within an available DCS system, for a practical, industrial situation. This is significant step, since MPC is new relatively new technology from an industry practice point of view.

CPCE therefore recognises the challenges of this fascinating field - strong application knowhow that presumes thorough knowledge of the underlying process, clear and well documented detailed engineering, knowledge of the instrumentation and control products that are being deployed as well as systems & software engineering knowledge.
